Welcome!
In 2022, I started with a small flock of six Debouillet ewe lambs and one wether. I sourced them from both a small farm in Texas and from the Jones Ranch in New Mexico. A cross between Rambouillet and Delaine Merino sheep, Debouillets were developed in the 1950’s to maintain the fine micron count of both breeds, but maintain a good body condition suitable for a market animal - all while thriving in extremely hot and arid conditions. With the fineness of the fiber and the general hardiness of this truly all-American breed, Debouillet seemed like the perfect choice for our small operation located on the Great Plains of Colorado.
Unlike the typical range sheep, ours are coated year-round to reduce the amount of vegetable matter and other debris in the wool which makes the fleeces a prime choice for handspinners. Close attention is paid to nutrition and the sheep receive the highest standard of care possible. With such a small flock, they all have names, individual personalities and are treated more like companion animals than livestock - to say the least, they are loved and treasured members of our “farmily.”
Handspun yarns and any other products made from our home-grown wool will be available in the shop. Additional products ranging from up-cycled shopping bags to finished pieces of art, weaving, or hand knits can also be found there.
***Please note that if you are local, there is a pickup option in lieu of having your items shipped if you’re in the Greeley, CO area.
